Look Im glad.all you flat coasters now have another nice park to ride... looks like a lott of good, hard work went into creating it. It still pails in comparisons to even just Oregons "volunteer built" trail networks like Blackrock and Post Canyon, let alone Washington and BC's stuff. When Timberlines Park gets finished Oregon will be a self contained Mecca of mountain biking (or more of one then it already is)... There's a reason so many top pros come from here (or just MOVE here permantly), if you can ride the NW you can ride anywhere well...
I have more elevation change in my actual backyard... can it still be called "mountain" biking if there aren't any REAL mountains around for thousands of miles???
The song is Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch from the album "Swoon"... IMO its their best album and all the songs flow.into one mother brilliantly. Like others have said Im REALLY excited to not hear dub-step like its some "new" form of music that needs to be shared in every video lately.
SC has gone SERIOUSLY downhill IMO since the removal of the Bullet from the lineup... No "park bike", no "short travel low standover "play bike", no FR bike... Thia is NOT the SC I watched start up and fall in love with... Aside from the V10 and all their more overtly "spandex" oriented bikes I've been lucky enough to throw a leg over EVERY bike in 2012 lineup that Id have ANY intrest in and while they're amazingly well thought out bikes and BEAUTIFULLY BUILT their current line up has a LOT of overlap in some areas and some glaring holes in others... Let the "We how dare you criticize. Santa Cruz" and "We everything they make is perfect" goons flame away, but I've been there since the birth of Santa Cruz and indeed "freeride bikes" in general and I tell you that in my expert opinion SC has lost their way... I will never find happiness on a lightweight 29r that they CLAIM can do it all. So instead of trying to convince a lot of us that we need to buy a new bike we don't want, PLEASE go back to making us "gravity oriented riders" feel included. And NO, the butcher doesn't cut it. BRING BACK THE BULLET!!! Enduro bikes were fun when us older guys started building early versions years ago, but it's like they completely forgot how they got their start/started the DH/FR movement. And before some moron says "they don't see a market for the kinds of bikes you're asking for..." Well, its REAL easy to not have any sales for a bike you don't offer... Its the same stupid logic Toyota uses to tell us we N.Americans won't buy a diesel Tacoma or a 70 series Cruiser...its just a stupid self fulfilling prophesy.
Anyway, confusing rant over... I'm just rather impressed with the direction SC Bikes seems to be heading.
Near vid once they finally for riding... bet it would have been even more fun on a well thought out "last
I love the whole idea and the execution... the bikesguitar certainly looksee amazing. color wise, does anyone ELSE see the similarities to I believe MDE's line of bikes??? The blue and white with the red looks nearly identical to the MDE Players color s heme. No biggie, just something I noticed.
650B is better then 29" for everyone BUT XC folks and those who don't actually NEED to manuver their bikes through tight trails. Put it this way, I've HATED every single 29'r I've ever ridden here in the NW but the very FEW 650B HT's I've ridden have been brilliant. I started racing BMX when I was 5 and I've been on a Mtn. Bike since they were brought to market/invented and I can say without pause 650B is a GREAT thing where 29 is just an OK thing...
Once again Deelight you are just WAY off the mark. There have been ZERO, QUALITY, ABUSE READY 650B's available up to now... Jamis??? Yeah, no thanks, I appreciate them getting behind good tech, but their frames are garbage, even their "DH/FR/SS" frames that are supposed to take abuse are known to be massive failures. You're small little boutique brands are a great "cottage industry" (do you know what that means???) but they're not cost effective, PROVEN, nor do they have any type of "dealer" network outside of the small town they're made in and isolated pockets of Canada... THIS bike is the beginning of something special and a SMART move forward in the industry. Norco is coming on STRONG this year and looks like they'll keep it up big time in the next few years.
Some of the stupidest, most pointless articles in mtn. bike magazine history were "penned" by RC so I don't know that I'd go around touting him as the holly grail of Mtn. Bike knowledge. He may have "seen" it all, but he hasn't always known what to DO WITH IT (I'll give him this though, he's no Jimmy Mac... and he has written some GREAT articles for PB, so maybe he's gotten over his journalistic "teething period" now that he's gotten into his 40's or 50's)... And if you "don't know" Derek Westerlund's name maybe you're not as "connected" to the industry as you think you are. I agree with you about the colation and the UCI bit, but then you loose me again in all the knobery...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA That just made my morning :)
